Essential Packing Supplies

Before you start packing, gather all necessary materials. Having everything on hand will make the process much smoother.

Room-by-Room Packing Strategy

Kitchen

The kitchen is often the most challenging room to pack. Wrap dishes individually in packing paper, and place them vertically in boxes (like records) for maximum protection. Use dish pack boxes for fragile items.

Bedroom

Use wardrobe boxes to transport hanging clothes without folding. Pack dresser drawers as-is (remove heavy items first) and wrap the entire dresser in stretch wrap to keep drawers closed during transport.

Living Room

Disassemble furniture when possible. Keep hardware in labeled bags taped to the furniture piece. Protect upholstery with moving blankets or plastic covers.

The Plate Method

Place a layer of crumpled paper at the bottom of the box. Wrap each plate individually and place them vertically (on edge) rather than stacking horizontally. This prevents pressure damage.

Heavy Items in Small Boxes

Books, tools, and other heavy items should go in small boxes. This prevents boxes from becoming too heavy to lift safely and reduces the risk of bottom breakage.

Labeling System
